ABOUT BUS DRIVER ADVENTURES
Bus Driver Adventures became a project in 2014 that has gained a popular following. Jason's goal was to document his adventures and to share them with the world through the eyes of a bus driver at Greyhound Lines. Since then, he has taken to Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to show off his visits and experiences. Since then, he has caught the eye of some people; including those at Greyhound corporate. In April 2015, in collaboration with Greyhound, Jason began writing Driver Destinations, A bi-monthly blog depicting travel locations and things to do; his first blog being on Portland, Oregon.
Since then, he has taken many photos and written many statuses on his explorations into different cities: from sunrises over Eastern Oregon to evening smooth jams on a beautiful Shreveport (Louisiana) evening. If Jason has a hidden passion, its writing and photography. This is evident through his many posts in his collection on Instagram and in his personal library; which he is planning to share with the rest of the world; something to keep your eyes open for! Bus Driver Adventures has focused on several cities and attractions. To name a few are Seattle, San Francisco, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Miami, Houston, among other cities. Jason may just be in your town next as a center of focus! |
ABOUT JASON FUTCH
"Why if traveling was not a part of my life like it is now, I wouldn't know what to do with my life. Advocacy bored me after doing it for so long, and so did politics. I think the best outlet for me is traveling by driving a Greyhound bus all over the country." -Jason Futch
Jason Futch was born in Gainesville, FL on October 24th, 1991, the 5th out of 6 children. Growing up, family values and keeping a tight knit family circle were very important, especially after the sudden passing of his father in an automobile accident in 1994. Despite the unfortunate circumstances, the family life was stable; and though there were times of struggle, they still made it.
Jason grew up in Florida, a product of the Florida Public Schools System until 2008 when personal matters brought Jason away from school. However, that did not get in the way of him obtaining his GED a year later and enrolling into college at Lake City Community College (Florida Gateway College). He was a major in Criminology and minored in Music Studies; being a part of the Florida Gateway Choir that was directed by Owen Wingate—a legend in the North Central Florida region. Jason has several concerts under his belt with the group.
Around this time, I also started focusing on advocacy work by working toward social action and human rights. Jason had also tried his hand at running for public office; where he ran for Columbia County (FL) Commissioner for District 5; however, the campaign was defeated in the primary, but with a better than expected margin of 4%.
Jason obtained his CDL in 2014 and began his current career as a motor coach operator. IHestarted by working for Greyhound Lines, Inc. in Jacksonville, FL. While with Greyhound, Jason had been recognized both locally and nationally as one of Greyhound’s safest and most efficient drivers on the fleet. Of these recognitions, Jason received the I AM GREYHOUND Stellar Service Award; in which his picture was put on a poster and distributed through the region he worked in. Additionally, he was featured in a short video about his life and how working for Greyhound had changed him coming from a small town in a poor family to where he is today. He had also within his career at Greyhound, catered to numerous public events and at one time performed a Department of Defense-authorized military move from Charlotte, NC to Ft. Benning, GA. Toward the end of his career with Greyhound, Jason moved to Seattle, WA and Portland, OR; Portland being his home since May 2015.
In September 2016, Jason began working for another charter company known as Northwest Navigator. The company is family-run and operated exclusively in the State of Oregon; running full operations in Portland near the Rivergate area; and a small satellite operation in Bend, Deschutes County, Oregon. During this time, Jason has had the opportunity to interact with numerous people and organizations. Most notably, Jason has done work with the NCAA, Nike, Addidas, Japanese Foreign Exchange Groups coming to Oregon, The City of Hillsboro and many others.
Jason continues to value safe driving as a necessity in the motorcoach industry, and continues to do what he does best. Continue to follow this website to see what he does next!
